- Second pair of eyes are located directly under his actual eyes, angled slightly and just to the side of his nose. They too glow a deep white.

Personality: Ben Solo was born to Han Solo and Leia Organa, making him the son of two war heroes. It shaped his early childhood years, as the two of them were busy, and often Ben was left at home with droids or the subject of many of his parent's spats. As a child, he showed remarkable strength in the force, so much so that it gave his parents to fear for him, however he believes that they feared him. As an adult, Kylo carries much anger towards his parents for their failure in his upbringing.

At ten he was left with his uncle, the famed Jedi hero Luke Skywalker, to learn to control his power. His bitterness towards his family runs deeper, however, when he learns that his parents lied to him about his heritage and never told him he was the grandson of Darth Vader. And even deeper, when his uncle, the same man he admired and respected, tried to kill him in his sleep. Driving him into the only person he believed he could trust, Snoke, who had spoken to him since he was a child. Kylo also believed that Darth Vader spoke to him, but was often met with silence when he tried to reach out to him, cementing his fears that he would indeed never be as powerful as his grandfather was.

Under Luke, he was extremely gifted and envied by other students, however he was lonely and only had few friends. Studious, he spent his time accompanying his uncle on missions to find Jedi artifacts, or reading texts, or practicing his calligraphy - all of which are habits that he has not grown out of, even as an adult. Collecting artifacts, an interest in all things Force related; as shown during his and Rey's first bond when he is more surprised by their sudden bond than anything else.

First and foremost, he is angry. It is hard not to notice his anger, it is his most prevalent trait, and most of the First Order - from officers to Stormtroopers have witnessed a fit of rage that will leave a trail of destruction in his wake, or have even been on the receiving end of said anger themselves, finding themselves thrown bodily across the room or unable to breathe. He wears his anger like a cloak, masking his deep hurt and wounded soul, such as when Rey chooses the Resistance over him and closes the door on him. He has been groomed by Snoke to use his anger and pain to channel his power. He is so blinded by his rage against his uncle when they finally do meet that he does not notice that the man has fooled him with an illusion to distract the First Order - allowing the Resistance to escape.

Kylo is an extremely conflicted individual. He struggles with feeling the light side of the force, something which his master tries to stamp out of him by his grueling training and painful punishments. When Snoke tests Kylo, and asks him to let the past die, it is asking him to kill his father. An act that he struggles with, proof that Ben Solo is alive under the mask of Kylo Ren. The act of killing Han Solo "splits his very spirit to the core", instead of making his resolve clear and cementing his loyalty the dark. It's safe to say his relationship with Snoke is not a good one, as he believed his young apprentice worthy as a heir of Vader, but with every passing failure - particularly Kylo's inability to best the upcoming Jedi Rey, he shows more displeasure with him, which drives Kylo's determination to prove himself more. He has his father's heart, Snoke tells him. 

Eventually, Kylo finds an opportunity to kill his mentor when Rey arrives on his ship and tricks the man into believing that he's going to kill Rey. But it's Snoke he turns the lightsaber on, cutting the man in half. Masking his murderous intent with murderous intent.

He embraces the title of monster, he does not see himself as a good person and tries to bury those parts of him. When Rey calls him out as such, he doesn't bother to correct her. He only tries to correct her when she tells him she believes that Ben Solo is still there, and that he will turn. While he believes that she will turn. 

Kylo is lonely. It's not important, he would say, but it's something in which he and Rey are able to bond over when the Force begins to connect them, and allows her to see the tiny bits and pieces of Ben Solo that he swears no longer exist. She is the first person in some time to show any belief in him, to the point she flies to his ship to try and convince him to return; something which he uses to take her to Snoke.

It is maybe because of their bond that he never actively tries to hurt her, whereas she tries to kill him on four different occasions. Their connection in the force is strong, something unseen. Research calls them "a dyad" or two that are one. 

He is determined to get his way, and is willing to take the long road in order to get it, no matter the cost. Following Rey's whereabouts over the course of the year and finally confronting her when the force connects him, allowing him to track and confront her on two separate occasions. On Kef Bir, he purposely goads and angers Rey into unleashing her anger onto him by revealing her origin to her, telling her she's more like him than she realizes. You can never go home, like I can't, he tells her. Finally, he smashes the object in which she was trying to find. The result is a fight in which she winds up besting him when she takes advantage of his distraction at his mother's call and stabbing him through.

*This is in a way, how he finally sheds the identity of Kylo Ren and reclaims his true name, at last shrugging off the vestiges of the darkside that have held him all of his life. Kylo Ren had been Ben Solo's mask, an identity that he was bade to craft by his Master but he had never truly killed his true self despite what he tried to tell himself and others. After his mother reaches out to him and Rey stabs him, as he lay dying, she heals him, to his surprise. The two people in the world -- his mother and the other half of the dyad, they still believed that he could be reached, after everything. 

After having a moment on the wreckage of the Death Star in which he has a conversation with the memory of his father and throwing his lightsaber into the water, he sheds his armor and cape and pulls a move that is so very Solo, charging onto Exegol to fight alongside Rey against Palpatine. There is a certain openness that was not there before, from his strategy to his fighting style, to the way he holds himself. 

He is much less guarded, the dark in his soul isn't completely gone but it's a start. For the first time in his thirty years of life, Ben Solo feels hope. Maybe not for himself or his future, but he knows at long last that he is on the right path. Facing down the man who'd destroyed his family's lives, who'd haunted his mind all those long years. 

It is also what leads him to make the decision, upon finding Rey's lifeless body after she'd beat Palpatine, to doing what he believes is right, and that is reviving her with his lifeforce. After everything he'd done, all that he can't take back - Ben Solo dies with light in his heart for the first time in his life.
