[Some time after Kylo's returned Anakin leaves a bottle of Naboo blossom wine he acquired after Sabé and Padmé's return to the sea. The note that accompanies it simply lists what it is and some facts about it.]

[Delivered to Kylo's door is a handmade lightsaber necklace and a plate of bakery bought cookies. Attached is a note:]

MERRY CHRISTMAS AND HAPPY HOLIDAYS KYLO-KUN!

I hope you're alright and staying safe and warm this winter. Let me know if you need anything. I don't know if you know the Christmas holiday, it's like your galaxy's Life Day, I think? Anyway, on my planet during this holiday you give gifts to your friends and family and you're my friend!

[This year, Maul had decided to behave himself when it came to giving gifts, unlike in years past where he broke into people's houses rather like Santa himself did. All gifts are left on the porch or front step of the recipient's home for them to find in the morning.

In showing that Maul had a sense of humor, he gave Kylo both a bag of coal (though he didn't even know if the man would understand the significance of that particular gift) and a T-shirt that he figured encompassed Kylo entirely. Accompanying it was a note in blocky handwriting wishing him a Merry Christmas signed from Darth Maul. (It was only 75% sarcastic!)]

[ She could use the network's messaging feature to call Kylo, but why do that when she has a much more direct way to reach him? She's considered it many times since she dropped the walls around their connection she'd been keeping up, but she had been unsure of how he would feel about her reaching out. She finds she doesn't care as much, now.

So she reaches out to him, pulling gently on that thread that connects them, just to see if he'll reply. She'd only done it once before in the hut on Ahch-To, and it had been so easy then. Like that connection had always been there. ]

[ If you asked Kylo what he was doing when he felt that gentle tug on the bond, he would not be able to say. Nearly dropping it all as Rey reached out to him.

Not that he is complaining, when he lets her through, his face relaxing into a neutral expression.

And he's clothed, this time. ]

Rey. [ a beat, while he considers his next words. They might be on better footing now after all that has happened, but given he's not sure what she would like to speak on, tread carefully. ] Is everything alright?

[ She smiles as he appears, relieved that he's there to answer. ]

Everything's fine. This is probably not the best use of the Force, but I was just wondering... [ She bites her lip, unsure of herself. ]

Are you going to go to the Snake Den parties?

It's fine.

[ He inclines his head slightly to the side, pausing. ]

I hadn't actually thought of it, no.

Why do you ask?

I thought we could go. [ pause ] Together.

[ did he mishear that or ]

You... do?

[ oh no he hates the idea ]

I-if you don't want to I understand. I just thought, the dress I was given is too nice for me to just... wear around while I'm cleaning up after porgs.

I don't hate the idea... what I mean to say is. I mean, yes, I will go with you.

[ good job Kylo ]

[ She'd been worried he wouldn't want to spend time with her that wasn't violence-motivated in some way, hearing him say he'll go with her makes her smile again. ]

You will? Really?

Is that so surprising?

[ ... ]

Wait. Don't answer that.

[ Rey bites back a smile, shaking her head. ]

Okay. Do you want to meet there?

Why don't we meet and go together?

[ She'd given him the meet there as a sort of out if he ended up not wanting to be seen with her, but to arrive together, well. Biting her lip she nods. ]

I'd like that.

So it's settled. I'll ah, I'll see you before the party, then.

Okay.

[ Rey almost can't believe how well this conversation went. The butterflies in her stomach haven't subsided, but she feels warm, excited. ]

It's a date.
