Character Species: Human
Current Health: Alive
Outfit: Black tunic and pants, boots and cape.
Character Canon:
Link to History: This article is about the Jedi known as Kylo Ren. You may be looking for the pirate Kybo Ren.
Canon Point: The Rise of Skywalker, after fighting with Rey on Pasana and the ship blows up.
Canon Iteration: Original canon
Canon Abilities: THE FORCE - Kylo is a very adept force user. He is able to stop or freeze others and objects, knock them out, use force tricks to mind trick someone, pull memories or information out of someone's head.
Role: Myth
Role Qualities/Attributes: Sight in the dark, horns and fangs, tail. High self preservation.
Role Reasoning: Kylo Ren isn't a character who'd I say is an outright villain as much as he is an antagonist. He sees himself as a bad individual, commits murder and brings chaos and destruction but he has a lot of self loathing and he feels guilt about murdering his father among other acts. Not to mention he's very conflicted... and still feels the pull to the light. I would like for him to naturally start to find a balance within himself and realize that he is capable of redemption and reclaiming the name Ben Solo in a more natural way -- possibly rising to legend status in the process.
Option 2. Choose FOUR-FIVE of the following questions to answer and expand upon. You may choose a fifth question if you feel it is integral to your character's personality. Each answer has a 100-300 word requirement.
- If you could give your character a Taylor Swift playlist, which songs would be on it and what would they represent about your character?
Look What You Made Me Do - Kylo Ren, feels like all of his choices have been made for him, by someone else. From his name being someone else's legacy (Ben after Ben Kenobi) to being hounded by Snoke all of his known life, to Luke trying to kill him? It's been one choice after the other being taken away from him and out of his hands until he has NO CHOICE but to turn to the dark side and forsake the name Ben Solo (he's dead!)
I Did Something Bad - And there's the pull to the dark. Embracing it, reveling in it. Feels so good. Killing Snoke, feels so good. Killing his father and freeing himself from the lightside.... should feel that good.
Anti Hero - Kylo is now the supreme leader of the galaxy, and with it comes a lot of responsibilities. And anxieties, and insecurities. He's surrounded by Generals who hate him and think he's wasting his might on chasing ghosts and would probably stab him in the back the first chance they get to take his position, and Rey who he ghosted by chosing not to go with her, is there with him figuratively, haunting him.
Castles Crumbling - Ben Solo was the hope for his family, and for a new generation of Jedi. But he fell quite literally from grace and into the hands of Snoke, not without a fight but still. His friends - or rather his one true friend tried to get through to him only to be killed by Ren. He was swayed by power, and in such he runs Rey off from joining him... now he's alone, in nothing but his crumbled castle, surrounded by people that hate him....
- Is your character capable of forgiveness or will they hold a grudge until they die? Would anything ever make them change their mind?
AHAHAHAHA. Oh, sorry. Serious question here! Kylo Ren does not forgive, nor does he forget. Wrong him and he will not let it go, he'll hold a grudge along with the best of them. From more serious offenses -- his uncle Luke holding a lightsaber over his head while he sleeps in what he believes is an attack on his life, to the minor, lesser infractions with General Hux - to Rey refusing his hand when he offers her the galaxy, and a place at his side. He's been wronged a great many times in his life, and doesn't take betrayal lightly, and he is extremely stubborn and set in his ways. Luke apologizes to him for his actions as they're dueling on the surface of Crait and he does not accept, nor does he forgive his uncle for what he did to him all those years ago. He still wants to kill him. So no, forgiveness is not a term that exists in the vocabulary of Kylo Ren.
- What would your character sacrifice to get what they want or to reach their potential? What have they sacrificed already?
- Which Taylor Swift era is your character going through right now and why?
