What's there to talk about?

[ He's not sure how to feel on this, but good for Luke being home, he supposes. He'll get to go back, live his life, ruin Kylo's...

At least, he tells himself as much. There was almost an understanding there, that wasn't there before. ]

I thought the two of you had begun to repair things. He cared about you.

Isn't it? I'm sure he had a bit to say to you about the darkside on that island of his. For all he lectured me about it, believed I was lost to it, he was just as susceptible.

[ things... might've been getting better between him and his uncle. but it makes the sting of betrayal that much worse. He hadn't wanted to turn to the dark either, but occasionally there's only one choice. ]

It doesn't change anything. His future. There's no going back, for either of us.

[ Luke knows what he has done, Kylo knows what he has done. ]

Alina would probably appreciate not having me lurking around, especially in the after hours.

I think he knew better than most how susceptible anyone could be.

He wanted better for you than what happened. And he wasn't the same person you knew. Maybe he'll never become that person. We don't know what can change and what has to stay the same.

[ It's not worth speculating over, but she can hope. ]

Are you getting along? She seems nice, but I imagine it's awkward. I'd like the company in any case.

[ The marriage suite feels too large and lonely with only her, even if she and Luke had given each other plenty of space. Just knowing that he would probably be nearby made it less so, and the absence of even his Force signature within the hotel made it feel strangely empty. ]

He had a funny way of showing it, then.

[ He knows in a sense that it is unfair, to draw so many similarities between the two Lukes - when the younger one had indeed at least tried. The rest of it, he mulls it over silently.

The question about Alaina, though, he gives some thought to before responding. ]

She's fine. Not so bad as far as a roommate. We don't talk much, but it's not because we dislike one another or anything like that.

I'll stop by tonight, perhaps we put that kitchen to use.

I'm sorry, I'm being unfair. I just wish I'd gotten to say goodbye. He was a good friend while he was here; much better than the other version. I'm glad I got the chance to know him.

[ She ought to be glad when a friend leaves, but the longer she stays, the lonelier it gets. At least Ben's making more connections now. She's grateful for that, too, even as the small spark of jealousy flares at mention of Alina despite her fondness for the girl. She knows there's nothing to be jealous of, but she's gotten to spend more time with Ben lately than Rey herself has just due to their living arrangements. ]

Ben Solo knows his way around a kitchen? Now you have to come by, I need to see this.

[ Why? What sort of chance does he owe? Is it because by nature of his blood, his familial ties to a man who would later want to kill him in his sleep? Did he still owe him some decency, some kind of chance just because for Luke, it had yet to happen? Kylo didn't know, and he had - though it had taken him nearly a year and some months to extend some courtesy and try. ]

He did remind me a little of how he used to be. Back when when he was my uncle and not my teacher.

[ Before Hell had started to change him, and what he could remember of his actual childhood, before being sent away. ]

Now that I have space to work with to try, I'm taking advantage of it. Jury is still out on how edible you may find the food, though.

I'm just sorry the two of you didn't have more time to try to set things right.
