[ Speaking of that bond, there's a long silence and a small spike of -- conflicting emotions, beginning with surprise and delight and shifting into embarrassment and then something like shock and a faintly sick feeling of horror.
She's just responded to an assortment of gifts that have been left at their front door, and hers have put her into a state she's not sure she wants to deal with alone. ]
[ He feels the spike of alarm and is on his way even before the message is sent, swooping down the stairs both quickly and dramatically to stand over by Rey's side. ]
What is it...
[ An item on the top of his own pile cuts him off, as he plucks a photograph of a messy haired toddler laughing on the lap of an older man, though younger than when Rey knew him - definitely unmistakable. Kylo swallows. ]
[ Rey's picked up the object that caused such a violent range of emotions in her, and turns it over and over in her hands. It's beautifully made; an object fit for the Empress she might've been. And much as it repels her, something about it resonates. She takes a step back, far enough that she doesn't risk hitting him by accident, and gives the central mechanism a twist, revealing two bright glowing red plasma streams.
She turns it off as quickly as she'd turned it on and struggles against a sense of rising panic to respond to his question. ]
Someone left it on the doorstep. They're gifts.
[ She steps closer to him, his own emotions bleeding over into hers and distracting her from the urge to fling the offending object as far away as possible. Once she sees the photo, though -- her heart almost physically hurts. It's clearly, clearly Han and a very tiny Ben Solo. Her new weapon forgotten, she swallows back her own upset and catches Kylo's hand in hers before he can take any action regarding the photo in question. She's afraid he'll do with it what she'd wanted to do with the saber, or worse. ]
[ Kylo stares open mouthed at the sight of Rey holding the saber, both a terrifying and awe drawing sight. There was a time where this was what he wanted, but now the sight feels wrong. And she's obviously shaken.
As is he. As she powers the saber down he looks at the photo again. He wants to keep it, he wants to set it on fire. He wants to stash it somewhere safe. He nods, drops his hand and leaves the photo where it lay. ]
There's a note. And more.
[ He plucks up the letter and reads it silently. ]
[ It's hard to tell. Lucifer's point of view is... strange, but she really does think he intended this to be a genuine gift. At least the rest of the stuff is pleasant enough, though she has questions about what some of them are for.
She picks her basket up, tucking the lightsaber into it while she figures out what she'll do with it, and nods at the weapon next to Ben's basket of things. ]
Given the other, ah, gifts left behind, I suppose he did. In his own way.
[ He doesn't particularly understand the workings of Lucifer, but he does agree with that assessment. There was some amount of thought put into these items. Kylo's eyes light up as he picks up the vibro-scythe and reads the description. With a flick of a switch he's powered the weapon up. ]
It's a vibro-scythe. Much like one of my knights, though --
[ Kylo swings it in a graceful arc and a memory comes flooding in. ]
I imagine that'll get about as much use as mine will. Maybe we should swap.
[ Despite the part of her that genuinely wants to test out her saber. It's beautifully made; Kylo's seems to be of similar quality, but she doesn't want him to hurt every time he wields it.
She mentally shakes herself for even considering this line of thought and moves back from the door, making room for him to follow her back inside. ]
Come on. Let's bring these in and get back to more pleasant activities.
